This is a delayed post. Or rather, the pictures in this post are.

It's another kitchen adventure yet again muahahaha. The holidays have indeed given me a lot of time and opportunities to start picking up some basic culinary skills. In fact, I just cleared my house's refrigerator after gymming with Trisha this evening (which was about 5 hours ago). By clearing I don't mean eating all its junk but throwing out all of the expired crap and wiping/washing every compartment. If you must know, my house's fridge was crazy packed and I don't know when was the last time my parents cleared it. About 2 years ago I figure, since a couple of items were expired back in 2012. Yes digusting I know. But nobody really has time for that when everyone's working/studying.

But now that all the junk is gone, I've got space for my new groceries!! And not to mention it looks and smells much better (not that it smells rotten to begin with - my parents are vegetarian so not much meat going on). Never thought that I'd be the anal one about stuff like this. Heheh am I one step closer to being a home maker? LOL.

And as usual thank you Trisha!! She has always been such a great help when it comes to cleaning up my house or my room. Damn I love her.










Monday's attempt at making raw almond butter!!

Gotta be thankful that my house has a high speed blender since idk when. Otherwise it would have been another bomb to my salary. Ever since I found it I've been making all sorts of crap with it because I can. And just a couple of days back I found an ice cream maker in one of the cupboards LOL. Guess I'm supposed to start making legit ice cream instead of my currently semi-melted looking ones?




And then there's my Chocolate Almond Butter ice cream for breakfast next morning!

Well it's basically just frozen bananas, cacao powder and almond butter, topped with cacao nibs. :)

My dad aged by another year just a couple of hours ago (11th March), which makes him 48 now. I honestly don't know if that's considered old but to me, it is. It seems like it was only a year or two ago when he was still in his early 40s, and in a blink of an eye, he's already in his late 40s going 50. That's... Pretty darn old and fast if you ask me lol.
I've always been used to the fact that my dad was relatively fit since he goes to the gym or swims almost daily, and he was also usually be the last to sleep. But as of recent years, his wrinkles and all have been screaming to me more than anything else - that he is ageing, and that one day he'll no longer be able to support me like he has been doing all these while. And in a few more years to come, I'll be the one returning the favour. I'm already going eighteen this year.

But I don't feel eighteen. I don't want to be eighteen. It sounds too old and heck, I'm not ready for the responsibilities that's going to come my way. Times too many, I think I'm still acting too much like a kid for my age so tell me how am I supposed to start doing things like my dad.


Anyway, enough about my rant. Moving on, just the day before, me and Brandon went grocery shopping for the cake I was gonna make for Papa Koh! And since my dad doesn't really like all the fatty stuff, might as well cut out all that butter and artificial crap and go raw vegan right!! Hahaha plus I've been contemplating about making one after reading up on a couple of recipes so i thought, why not take the opportunity?




Aside from the materials I needed for the cake, I got a couple of my own super foods meant for the breakfasts I've been making for myself lately. Ever since late last year, I kinda got into this eat clean thing and soooooooo, my breakfasts/brunches have pretty much been raw vegan - loaded with fruits, nuts etc.
My grocery bill is... Crazy. Really. I could burn my whole wallet.

And not to mention that I got some organic items that were super overpriced. Lol. I didn't know about the alternatives (yeah that's stupid and impulsive of me I know) and Brandon had a great evening laughing and making fun at my depressing grocery bill which I could have saved about $30 if I've heeded his advice.
ARGH WHAT THE HELL I FEEL SO CHEATED FML. Thankfully, Brandon's sharing half of the cake's bill too as a gift.

Nevermind. It's a lesson learnt. I'm wiser now.


I dragged myself out of bed at 9AM despite having only 4 hours of sleep (who in the right mind would deprive themselves of sleep on a holiday?) just to start making the cake. Oh anyway, I've decided on making Raw Chocolate Cheesecake!! Honestly I'm impressed by how one could make such desserts without baking and with only raw ingredients lol. You'll understand as you read along.







So for the crust, it basically consists of raw walnuts, cacao powder, coconut oil, maple syrup and a tad bit of salt all mixed together in my blender cause I don't have a food processor. And the cake batter on the other hand, consists of raw cashews etc etc and zucchini?!

I was kind skeptical about using some kinda cucumber in my cake batter but it was what gives the cake its consistency and feel of a "cheesecake" so... I just decided to try and besides it seems cool. My batter was meant for an 6 inch cake but since I only had the mold for a 8 inch one... It seemed more like a tart but it's okay whatever.







After all the crazy blending, mixing of ingredients etc, off to the freezer it goes!! Desserts that don't require any baking are the best (I always screw things up in the oven). And not to mention these are way less sinless than those cakes in cafes!!
It took about 8 hours for the cake to set (which during that time I went Zhiyi's place for fun and started playing around with Adobe Illustrator cause he needed help with some logo designing) and when it was done, it's time to add the finishing touches!! ^-^ Some strawberries for garnish and cacao nibs lining the cake's edges to hide the poorly placed cling wrap that made some parts of the cake uneven.

And to surprise my dad!!

He was so happy and amazed at my skills HAHAHA. There were also no kitchen disasters!! Okay maybe one. When Brandon came over to join us for dinner, he didn't believe that I could be so meticulous and cautious so he started looking around my house's kitchen... only to find some ants on the maple syrup bottle which I didn't exactly wipe after using.
Trust him to know that I'm such a klutz to make those mistakes.




So we kept the cake aside till after dinner outside! Everyone said it was awesome and similar to a chocolate cheesecake wheeeee. I personally think that it could be much much better though. After everyone had their fill, there were still about 5 slices left (1 which I was gonna reserve for Trisha) so what do you do?
Call Zhiyi and Kelvin of course HAHAHA. They came in like 10 mins (I can never be more grateful for them living so near me) and cleared another 2 so yay!!

This post sums up my today, and the day before. In fact, lately, I haven't been out a lot. Just random lepak outings, gym/run and adventures in my kitchen. But heyyyyy, it'll be holidays for the JC & sec sch kiddos next week!! And I'm going Batam this weekend with my family! It was a last minute decision but I'm looking forward to it. :)

Recent food venture with Zhiyi. Yeah we both realised we hang out a lot this holidays, even way more than the times we'd go to school and back home together. But since he is the only poly fag that lives just 200 metres away from my place, it's a given isn't it.

I kinda miss Zhizikemi. And cosine. Can't wait for them JC kids to finish up this year. There are actually a couple of people I've been missing since I haven't met or caught up with them in forever. And it doesn't seem like this holidays is the appropriate time to do so either. Or maybe it's just cause it's early March.

Anyways, the two of us went to visit Brownice. It's a vegan ice cream cafe that has their dessert all made from natural flavouring (no artificial ones) and raw fruits/nuts etc. Basically, it's sinless comfort food!! Okay maybe it isn't exactly sinless but it's way healthier than all the other sweet junk you could possibly find. They use organic brown rice milk instead of the fatty dairy cream in other ice creams.

Sounds unappetising? Well, you'll be surprised. Despite being dairy-free, healthy and all, it's actually just as good. Zhiyi didn't believe me and had the idea that I was just forcing myself to eat healthier stuff now that I'm closely watching what I eat and all but their stuff is really awesome!! No kidding.





I got myself their brownie and dark chocolate ice cream. Even he who hates sweet stuff agreed that they were good. HAH.

I wanted to try other flavours but it wasn't exactly a day for me to indulge in all these treats so I didn't. I'll save it for another day which I suppose would be sometime soon. It would mean the world to me if I got hired at their workplace. Keeping my fingers crossed for their call.






I got myself some earl grey cookies too. :)
We were basically walking along Thomson road, seeing what other cafes are worth visiting next time. And yeah I happened to chance upon BerryGerryBakes.



Stopped by little pancakes cause Zhiyi wanted something savoury since he didn't had much. It's damn funny when his meal arrived though because looking at him and the 10 little pancakes they give... HAHAHA. Well at least their iced latte was good!

Well that pretty much concludes our food venture! I guess there'll be another one soon idk.

Oh and yeah, I've decided to quit working at Gongcha. Maybe not quit exactly but my pay days with them aren't exactly the best experience. For the past 13 months, I was probably short paid more than half. If it's a dollar or two I'll usually look past it but $30? And this time they paid me $100++ less than what I should receive. Each time I complain with my colleagues, yeah, guarantee most of the time we'll receive the top up next month but it's quite annoying honestly. I need that money for the month yknow lol. Just wtf man enough of your bullshit ok I'm so done with this. It's not like you're paying more than the minimum wage anyway.

Which explains why I'm hoping to work at Brownice though I don't know if they'll call me back. Sounds kinda hopeless huh but I'm still gonna wait by my phone and pray for the best. Otherwise I'm gonna have to start hunting for another job that ain't paying me less than peanuts.

Spent my Sunday shopping with Trisha, and today on a date at Chinatown with my boy! Hahaha it wasn't exactly a date since we had things to buy and hence the trip, but might as well make the best out of it!
So yeah I went out of the way to buy shampoo. Yeah shampoo and just shampoo cause apparently you can get it at People's Park Complex at $17 for a litre of shampoo and a litre of conditioner when you pay pay the exact same price for only 300ml at other supermarkets and department stores. Talk about cheap!!! #auntiebelle

As usual, enjoyed the quality spent with him. During his study break and week of exams, I barely saw him at all (just practically worked my ass off) so thank god for the end of his papers and school!!!

But heading out 4 days in a row also means loads of spending. Brandon downloaded this app called Wally and I thought it was quite cool so I downloaded it too. It basically tracks your expenditures, whilst tracking your salary and budget if any. It's quite cool you should download it especially if it's your holidays right now. Trust me you'll need it.
After recording all the items I've spent since the start of March (which has only been 3 days), I have already spent up to $300+?! Lol what can I say. My Sunday with Trisha got me 4 new apparels and some makeup products. And makeup is. So. Damn. Expensive. I haven't started putting them on (too lazy and it's kinda troublesome) but I'm bound to in the near future so... Yeah.

Not really glad about the fact that I've spent half of what's in my bank but at least I still got my pending pay which has yet to be transferred. Thank god.

Can't wait for more trips, outings, photoshoots and dates to come. ^_^

Today, just an hour after lunch, I made an impromptu decision with Zhiyi to go to YJC for their carnival.

We weren't invited by anyone in particular... LOL but we poly fags have nothing to do now that it's the holidays so.

I thought it'll be nice to say hi to Joanne since it's been ages since I last saw her and I miss her!! Hahaha ironic how we used to see each other almost everyday during the CCHY days. And of course to visit Valerie and Mingxun (the primary school friends) which I happen to bump into last year during the carnival too.

I wounded up bumping into more of my friends in primary school! None of them happen to be in h&f (the current CPS group that I always hang out with) but they all happen to be my ex-classmates in 5.3! Filbert, Benedict, Cheng Yun and of course, Mingxun and Valerie. I remember Filbert being the super nice guy that I always kinda bully while we were group mates for a lot of projects since our index numbers were just a number away. The following two guys were the annoying dudes. Hahaha man I kinda miss those days.
And of course it's a given to reminisce about old times and start gossiping about who went where and all that. And we did take a photo to commemorate the day and as usual, I'm always a damn midget.

By now you should have realised that I was too lazy to bring my camera out for the day, but I promise pictures for my next post. I mean, I don't really like wordy posts myself unless you're someone I bother about and I see the dire need to catch up with you through your blog posts lol so congrats if you've read up till here actually.

The look on Mingxun's face was priceless!! Hahah damn I really miss the p5&6 days with him after all. And he's now he's even more of a gentleman than he was before!!!

Hopefully this time, we will all get to spend mid-autumn together! It's a yearly primary school tradition anyway hahaha. I guess I had the best days back in CPS and CCHY. Poly life in comparison to then is shit. Lol.


Today was a good day, and so was yesterday while playing basketball with my boy. It's been so long since I shot hoops I 1)am having muscle aches now and 2)missed 50% of my shots. Damn I need to get back in the game!!

Looks like tomorrows always guarantee better days after you've hit rock bottom. :)
