Tuesday's cafe visit with B was such a find!!

I was insistent on finding a cafe that offers brunch (with eggs benedicts preferably because I really love poached eggs) and after doing a little bit of searching on the net the night before, I short listed 3 - Selfish Gene, Lola's cafe and d'Good cafe. I mean, I have a bunch of others such as Drury Lane on my list but I shortlisted the above 3 because... Idk I had to decide a few for him to pick from.

Brandon being Brandon picked the one that was the most easily accessible - d'Good cafe. It's located just a short walking distance from Holland Village MRT. But hey, I'm not complaining. I think I've contracted some of his lazy germs cause I'm starting to find travelling on public transport to inaccessible places a real pain in the ass. Either that or I'm simply getting old.

Reached our destination and I was greeted by their fabulous aroma coming from their coffee. We ordered Arizona White Blueberry tea, iced Mocha, Potato Bacon Salad and 2 sets of Eggs Benedict!

Side note: 1) I aim to try all of Arizona's tea and collect their bottles because they're so pretty!! 2) Ever since I dragged Brandon into cafe visiting with me, he fell in love most of their salads and has hence decided that to every cafe we go to in the future, we have to get one of their salads. 3) This is Brandon's first time trying Egg's Benedict (and I told him he wouldn't regret it because what's there not to love about poached eggs on ham/salmon/bacon and toast)

Their mocha was really good!! We both honestly thought that we should have gotten something like latte instead to taste its full flavour minus all the chocolate. But it's worth $6.50!!

And it came as a surprise to me, but their Potato Salad was damn good too. I was expecting something like Aston's Potato Salad but this was on a whole different level hahah. Oh and aside from the Potato Salad here at d'Good cafe, the Caesar Salad at W39 is awesome too (though you pay $10 for that).

And yes, Brandon came to love Eggs Benedict weeee.

That pretty much concludes our brunch date together for the Tuesday! Oh and just yesterday, we went to Ikea for their food once again. And a little bit of furniture shopping. Afterwards, Trisha and her boyfriend joined us and we headed to Queensway to get our new kicks!!

Sunday's photoshoot - Scarlet Chords
Photographer: Mirabelle
Model: Megan
Camera: Canon EOS 600D + 50mm

What do you do when you're bored at home on a Sunday afternoon?

Okay well, a photoshoot isn't exactly the first thing that comes to mind but, I've been wanting to do a second one and since my sister was home and totally spontaneous that day, we've decided to head out and take a couple of photos! It was a pretty short shoot, but I'm more than satisfied with the results!

I had no time to brainstorm any ideas of theme this time, since it was wayyyy impromptu. But my sister (aged 14 this year) just got herself a guitar recently (after annoying my dad nuts for a while) so we thought why not work around with that? She wanted to show her guitar off anyway lol.

She was far more fearless than I expected - wanting to venture deeper into the unknown, wanting to climb trees or in-between fallen twigs and she wasn't that shy when it comes to poses. Okay what am I saying. She is my sister lulz obviously she's thicked skinned like this. But it was a good thing! I didn't have to keep directing her to do whatever, so she made my job far easier.

We both have plans for another photoshoot, hopefully at a new unexplored location and I'm looking forward to it! It was great phototherapy, especially since my Sunday wasn't exactly the best... I visited my grandparents after that and honestly nothing tastes better than the foods made by my grandmother.

Oh and I spent my Saturday collecting my race pack for Electric Run with Trisha! Plus window shopping, etc. It was an awesome day and I'm so excited for Saturday's run!! (You can probably tell from my Instagram)

2nd April 2014: Happy 18th Birthday Victor!

Just a couple of days before, we (primary school group) decided to give Victor a birthday surprise after his long day of school. It was midweek, so it was kinda hard to plan since he has school the next day butttttttt we all managed to come up with an awesome plan together! ^-^

Plan: Victor comes home, we surprise him at the doorstep with cake (which me and Brandon baked on Monday!) > have cake and takeout for dinner at Trisha's place (which is just a couple of doors away cause her parents were not home) > The Big Surprise

The Big Surprise was actually to have Victor whack a piñata that contains random junk and our gifts to him! If you don't know, he loves wrecking and breaking things. I thought it was ze perfect idea. So yeah, we basically had a "try-not-to-get-something-fragile" rule for our presents to him. I remember I was freaking out the day before because I have yet to find a decent gift for him, and I couldn't find any cardboard for the piñata making.
But I was out with Zhiyi then and since Victor had this crazy workout routine that made him lose 13kg (yes 13 friggin' kilograms not pounds), we all thought he needed a wardrobe revamp now that his clothes look too huge for him. So me and Zhiyi were like "when in doubt, always go Pull and Bear" HAHAHAH. One of our fav shops evaaa.
The cardboard thing was thankfully resolved with Trisha's help.

But things never go according to plan now do they.

Cause it was a surprise, we never asked Victor if he was free or if he had any plans. So we later found out that he going for a buffet dinner with his family and won't be back till... 10PM?? Imagine how disappointed we all were at 5PM after rushing to make his piñata. And we can't have dinner with him. Lol honestly, I was greatly pissed at myself for not foreseeing something like this or having a Plan B.
But the guys suggested to have dinner at Domino's, and then return to surprise him so we did. We had daily scoop after that too but I'm honestly disappointed by their flavours and brownie cause idk it was raved but I thought it was just meh.

Victor reached home at approximately 9.30PM and we surprised him with the home baked cheesecake! I think me and Brandon did a super good job!! It could be less sweet (and maybe much less sinful) but it's probably one of my best bakes yet, despite the poorly placed parchment paper that ruined the sides. Plus I really enjoyed the afternoon spent baking with my boy.
After everyone finished, it was time to blindfold Victor. We had to do it at the void deck cause there was no suitable place to hang the piñata at Trisha's place.

Damn can you believe that guy actually broke the whacking stick into 4 pieces? Fyi no one thought it was even breakable after our trial-and-error.

A watch, Starbucks card, portable charger, pull and bear t-shirt, keychain, sneaker balls and marimo. His surprise eighteenth which he probably didn't expect hahah.

Happy birthday Victor! :)
